SPECIAL AUTOMATIC MILLING MACHINE FOR DYNAMIC BALANCING OF ARMATURES (ACM104)

The special milling unbalance correction machine ACM104 is designed and conceived for incorporation with the ACM94 unbalance measuring machine, using its PLC input data as referential for the automatic correction.
Machine bed is made out of welded steel and all machine units are disposed in a steel iron cabinet with transparent front door. Two separate slides are used for the vertical and horizontal workpiece feeding that are driven by servo motors and are guided in round hardened guideways and linear ball bushings with provision for pre-tensioning. Workpiece vertical positioning, CCW milling tool rotation and upwards feed rate ensure free falling of the chips residue during the milling operation in the chip pan, provided for their collection in the bottom of the machine.

After initial workpiece imbalance is measured on the ACM94 dynamic balancing machine, the operator transfers the already measured armature to the milling machine by loading the armature shaft into the spindle collet chuck. The machine door is closed and working cycle is started by pressing the starting push button. The armature is clamped automatically between the workpiece spindle and rotary center of the tailstock. Then the workpiece is positioned in accordance with the data read from the unbalance measuring machine and the milling tool performs the corrections with the necessary number and depth of cuttings along the armature stack length. The cycle is repeated until the preset weight of material is removed. The spindle is stopped and the armature is released by unclamping the tailstock quill. Simultaneously, unbalance measurement of the next armature to be balanced is performed on the ACM94 machine and the operator removes the finished part and loads the new one on the milling machine. The corrected armature is loaded again on the imbalance measuring machine for final check up.
