AUTOMATIC FOUR STATION DYNAMIC BALANCING MACHINE FOR ARMATURES (ACM113)

ÀÑÌ113 is a fully automatic four-station machine for dynamic balancing of armatures through milling correction. Machine operation can be performed also in static balancing mode (using one plane only). The machine performs consecutively the steps of unbalance measurement, correction of imbalance through milling operation and checking of the residual unbalance. A chain conveyor is used for the automatic loading and unloading of the armatures.
The consecutive operations are performed simultaneously on 4 working stations:
Station 1: loading of the new armature and unloading of the finished one by means of an automatic pick-and-place device that turns the workpiece at 90° for correct working position.
Station 2:Unbalance measurement and determining values and locations of the material that has to be removed (milled) in both planes. Hard bearing workpiece supports are used, driven by a step motor through belt transmission. Two piezo-electric sensors are used on each of the workpiece V-supports to measure the dynamic reaction of the rotated armature. Measured data are stored and used for the calculation of the weights that have to be removed. An optical sensor is used for monitoring the armature angular position with respect to the lamination slots.
Station 3: Milling operation. Measured unbalance is corrected through milling slots of preset depth and length on the periphery of the armature stack. The headstock collet chuck (with changeable jaws) locates the armature angular position before each milling operation. A pneumatically driven fork clamps the workpiece during the milling operation. The milling spindle is driven by a variable speed AC motor and is pre-tension bearing supported with precisely ground quill. Two sets of milling cutters are used to tend cuttings to the middle of the stack to avoid deforming of the stack laminations. Both horizontal and vertical slides are used for armature feeding movements.
Station 4: Identical to the second station. Used for checking of the residual imbalance after correction.

A rejection chute is provided the in front of the machine for conveying rejected armatures after second checking.

Approximate capacity: 82 armatures/hr.
